For Air Max Day 2026, Nike returned the beloved Air Max 95 to a 1:1 recreation of its original 1995 release, limiting the drop to select sneaker boutiques as a way to generate demand and hype among the model's core audience.
Originally conceived as a static newsletter campaign built in Photoshop, the approach felt underwhelming for a release that held a pivotal role in the quarter's calendar. With only three days until launch, the challenge became how to celebrate Nike's Air technology in a way that felt authentic to both SVRN's standards and Nike's commercial audience. Out of that static image, a new story emerged: one centered on the sci-fi language of the Air Max 95's design and the scientific element of Nike's Air technology itself.
The resulting video editorial captures both elements in a way that feels fictional to the viewer, yet remains grounded in the product they know and love. Lidar scans replaced traditional 2D product shots to add depth and realism, with imperfections left in purposefully to preserve an element of fiction.
Despite the tight three-day timeline, the final piece outperformed previous sneaker posts in driving Instagram users from story-link interactions directly to consumer checkout.
